Michelle Skinner
Associate

Michelle Skinner, an associate at Spears & Imes LLP, has litigation experience in a variety of areas, including securities and antitrust matters, internal investigations, complex commercial and financial disputes, and appellate work. Ms. Skinner has represented clients in state and federal court and in regulatory proceedings.

Notable cases include:

  • representation of a prominent retailer in a dispute with its insurer over coverage related to the 9/11 attacks;

  • representation of an underwriter in a civil securities action;

  • representation of a major investment bank in an internal investigation to ensure compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act;

  • representation of a large financial institution in a contract dispute involving complex derivative transactions; and

  • defense of a national home builder and several of its officers in securities class actions and a shareholder derivative suit.

Ms. Skinner is committed to pro bono work. She has represented pro bono clients in various family law and criminal proceedings and has assisted victims of domestic violence with immigration issues.

Ms. Skinner is also actively involved with the First Decade Committee of the Federal Bar Council.
