Jason T. Mogel

Jason Mogel has extensive experience representing institutions and individuals in a broad range of litigation matters, including complex commercial disputes, securities enforcement investigations, white collar criminal proceedings, and internal investigations. Mr. Mogel has represented clients before federal and state courts as well as in appellate proceedings and alternative dispute resolution.
Mr. Mogel previously served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alaska, where he had trial experience and briefed and argued cases before the Alaska Supreme Court. One victory at trial was the successful defense of a prisoner's claim against the State of Alaska, which the Alaska Supreme Court affirmed.
Representative matters include representation, with partners David Spears and Christopher Dysard, of a group of foreign and domestic financial institutions, including Allstate, Bank Leumi, Bayerische Landesbank, International Finance Corporation, Société Générale, and Travelers, in a six-week jury trial in the Southern District of New York against a major U.S. investment bank to recover large losses related to the sale of bonds backed by consumer installment loans of Heilig-Meyers, resulting in a verdict for our clients and a judgment of $144 million; representation of credit default swap brokers in connection with an industry-wide investigation conducted by FINRA; representation of corporate cash managers in connection with a FINRA investigation relating to auction rate securities; representation of a Chief Financial Officer of a Fortune 100 corporation in parallel criminal and civil investigations conducted by the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission; representation of a hedge fund in regulatory proceedings and civil litigation in connection with mutual fund market timing; and defense of the State of Alaska Tort Reform Act before the Alaska Supreme Court.
Mr. Mogel is committed to pro bono work and has represented a number of individuals in criminal appellate proceedings. |
